3.2.15 Today I worked with Kyla Jenkinson, one of the co-owners of her business Photo Divine. Today we meet at her studio at 9:30 and went over some camera basics and worked on bracketing. After she explained my mission of going out and taking photos of the same object in snow, playing around with the different f-stops and shutter speeds. I then went on a photo shoot with Kyla shadowing her as she took photos for her mothers day project. After the photo shoot I went back to the studio with Kyla and we uploaded the pictures and clarified my mission. Then I was set free, I went to go buy a tripod and then went to my favorite snowy spot and took photos of an old barn with different foot stops and shutter speeds. After taking 25 photos and recording all the information I downloaded them into my computer and made them all black and white.
3.3.15 Today I had the morning to myself to think out my women empowerment final product along with starting to think about applying to the ‘A Mile In My Shoes’ a scholarship program through Photo Divine. I met with Kyla at her house at 12:30 where we went over my photo shoot on bracketing the barn along with going over my portfolio. After explaining the different exposures of light we went over my next photo shoot consisting of the flow of water and how different f-stops and shutter speeds affect the capturing of the water. At 2 we meet with our next mother for the ‘Your Mama’s A SuperHero’ project. We went to Bakers bridge to shoot this photo shoot, after this I was set free to go and shoot the water flow.
3.4.15 We met at the studio today at 9:30 where we went over the movement of the water flow through bracketing. At 10:30 we had another photo shoot at Falls Creek for the ‘Your Mama’s A Super Hero’. Then I was sent off at noon to go and take a photo shoot of high and low contrast, along with a back-lit photo shoot. I went up to Fort Lewis and took photos of the contrast from the snow and hogs back mountain. After, I went back home and used a shaded window with a I spent more time going thinking of my women empowerment piece.
3.5.15 I met Kyla at the studio at 9:30 again this morning to go over my contrast and back-lit photo shoots. After getting tips on how to redo them we headed to our photo shoot at 10 out in Edgemont. After that we went back to the studio where I meet with Wesley and we went over some basic photo editing through the program ‘Lightroom’. Around 1:00 I was released to go and redo the low contrast and back-lit photos. I long with going to Animas High School to talk about what the boundaries are for my women empowerment piece.
3.6.15 Today I had the day to myself where I got to go over my women empowerment proposal along with writing a creative writing piece. Also I had a photo shoot of capturing what inspires me. I started when the sun was going down and took pictures of the sun setting along the horizon of Perins peek. I then went up to the overlooks at Fort Lewis and took pictures of the beautiful pink clouds. I then went into town and took pictures of Main Street when all the night lights were out. After that I went back to the outlooks and took pictures of the town with all the night lights out.
WEEKLY REFLECTION 3.2.15 - 3.6.15 This week started off as me shadowing the photo shoots and mainly just observing, but by the end of the week I was helping out and settling into the work I would be doing for two more weeks. I learned how to bracket and what the difference is and benefits are when bracketing. This week I learned beside Kyla who was really interesting to see how she went about her daily life. I was surprised by how all the women we have been photographed have felt so empowered during and after the process. I contributed to business by helping out with photo shoots by lighting and side shooting. This is also when I introduced my LINK project to my mentors.
3.9.15 Today I meet with my mentor at 9:30 and we went over some of the photos I took over the weekend and went she gave me some tips on how to make the photos more interesting. Then I got the task of fact checking the facts on eating disorder cites. My mentor Kyla and her co-owner/sister are currently working on making a documentary on body imagine specifically in women. Therefore I had to make sure the facts they are using in their movie are accurate. I spent most of the day working on this, and I also spent some more time thinking about my final project and writing up a project proposal.
3.10.15 Today I met at the studio around 9:30 from here we quickly left to meet with another mom at 10 to get her photos taken. After this we went back to the studio where I was shown how to import the photos and I observed Wesley edit them and how they choose there favorite image to use for this Mother's Day project. Then I shared with them my creative writing piece, which was a poem, to submit for their scholarship program 'A Mile In My Shoes'. Then we discussed what I wanted my photo shoot to look like for the scholarship and I choose to include music into my photo shoot.
3.11.15 Today I met with Kyla around 9:00 where Jessica came and visited me, we had a long talk with my mentor about women empowerment. After that we went over some talking point for what I wanted to bring up to Jake. Then at 11:30 I meet with Jake and Libby, we talked about my project and the boundaries with the images and what steps I would have to take in order to get my final project. Then I met up with Wesley to go on another Mother's Day photo shoot where I observed the different angles and settings she used to get the photos she likes best. Then I worked on my project proposal more to make sure it was refined and the best it could be before turning in my final copy to Jake and Libby.
3.12.15 Today I went on earns for Kyla and Wesley where I was in charge of finding these two glues and glosses for the art piece we are making for the Mother's Day project. I also worked on refining my proposal and worked on how I plan on reaching out to my peers for partcipating in my final project. I also did some more fact checking along with completing a mini macro project, where I experimented with a macro lens.
.3.13.15 Today I had off and had time to ketch up on all my projects and turned in my final proposal along with sending out an email to all the girls at Animas High School trying to find girls that were interested in participating.
3.14.15 I got up pretty early today, in order to go to Aztec to do a photo shoot that was also going to be filmed for the Exposeurself film. This was really interesting because I got to see how the film process worked as well. We spend the whole day here filming and taking photos which was so incredibly fun and I learned how to take photos of 'behind' the scenes.
WEEKLY REFLECTION 3.9.15 - 3.14.15 This is when I started to feel comfortable with my internship and less shy around my mentors. I started getting comfortable taking photos and helping out with lighting. I began gaining their trust with things such importing photos and adding sloppy boarders of the final images. This week I begin getting in the swing of how a photography might go about their daily life. I soon came to the realization that photography is something I care for and have so much passion for and I could see myself going into the career of photography. The most surprising thing of this week was where I began to realize that seeing all these women embracing themselves, I started to embrace myself some more and gain a little confidence in myself. My favorite part of this past week was being able to go to Aztec and see how filming and photography works along with seeing a little of their film in the process. Also seeing how strong these mothers are and all they go through to make sure their children are living happy lives is so inspiring.
3.16.15 Today I was at the studio at 9:30 where I measured out the wood blocks and put in hangers for the Mother's Day show. I spent majority of my day completing all 32 blocks with hangers and then I went through the final photos chosen and put sloppy boarders on them. Then my mentor and I exported them into JPEGs from RAW images, and sent them to get printed with special ink and on special paper.
3.17.15 Today I met with Kyla in the studio at 10:30 where we went over talking points to discuss with the girls. Then I met with the women during their lunch block where I talked about my project, what they would need to do, and all the information they need to know. Then I went to talk to Libby about the process of getting my project passed where I then was told I needed to send her a copy of the consent for I will be using. After that I went back to the studio and got the consent form and arranged it to my needs and sent it to Libby and Jake. Then later that evening I went to a Board meeting where I got approval on my project for LINK.
3.18.19 Today we started at 9:30 we set up the studio to start working on the blocks were we covered them in Mod Podge then laid soaked sheet music on the blocks, painted over that in Mod Podge and laid down the wet image of the mothers day project and then covered it in Mod Podge and then let it dry. We only got about 13 of them done and was working straight until 3:30.
3.19.15 I started at 9:30 in the studio today where I began to work on the blocks, and completed about 15 blocks. I also worked on a spreadsheet to get women signed up for Saturday to get their photos taken.
3.20.15 Today we finished the blocks and cleaned up the studio then we set up the studio so I could start taking my photos on Saturday for my LINK project. Then Kyla came over to my house and we took photos of me for the 'Mile In My Shoes' scholarship program. It was really interesting to compare the difference of being behind the camera and then in-front of the camera. It gave me more tips as of what I need to do as a photographer to make sure I get the right photos!
WEEKLY REFLECTION 3.16.15 - 3.20.15 This week is when all the knowledge I have gained and d
