New's Channel
Near the end of December our Spanish class wrote articles in Spanish about a current event we found interesting. I wrote about earthquakes in Costa Rica, other classmates wrote about different events in either Costa Rica, Peru, Guatemala and other places. After we finished our individual article we meet with other classmates that wrote about the same place. We soon created a mock news channel where we read the articles in Spanish.
I thought this project was very interesting especially the fact that we had the opportunity to choice where we wanted to write and also what we wanted to write about. I enjoyed writing about earthquakes because I have traveled to Costa Rica before and just seeing how earthquakes work was intriguing. What I liked most of all was getting to research random facts about the topic. This was really interesting because it was very eye opening to see how many earthquakes can occur in just one year. My best moment for me was when we finished the video and got to upload it to YouTube, not only did I feel relief that I got it done and well but also that I got to share all our hard work with my family and friends!
I found this project difficult by not only writing in Spanish but also by having to figure out the technology to edit and upload it to YouTube. I like learning how to upload videos to YouTube along with getting to know IMovie even more. I really enjoyed incorporating technology into this project defiantly added a whole new perspective. My best moment during the course of this project must have been scanning through all the current events trying to find the one that was most appealing to me. This was fun because I got to read a little but about what is going on in other counties.
I learned a lot about my self education, I mainly learned how to self advocate. I also learned how making sure to check in with my teachers was important to make sure I was on track with getting items turned in on time. And if I wasn’t on track problem solving them with my teacher.
This project has helped me get comfortable with speaking the language. It has helped me get comfortable with speaking by being able to attempted every word in the article I wrote. It had me get over not pronouncing everything clearly and just made me speak the language. Now I can feel comfortable with talking to others in spanish even if I don’t pronounce everything right. I can at least try to get my words across, this has helped me speak more and will and to the learning experience.
