Guía de Supervivencia
During the duration of this project I studied the country Peru. I wrote scenarios on topics such as food, places to travel and accommodations. These scenarios contained a dialogue sections, vocabulary to know, and a tip box. I also participated in drawing the counties flag for the cover and organizing the table of contents along with providing a map that has all the major towns on it. My partner and I also wrote our own skit containing information when ordering at a restaurant in Peru. We preformed these skits during Exhibition along with talking to the community about out Survival Guides.
I have learned a lot more about the culture along with a better understanding of how to safely travel to Peru and being well prepared. I have learned to always be careful about where to order your water and make sure where it comes from. Always ask when ordering water and make sure it’s bottled water not from the city. If they use city water ask for bottled water with no ice because the ice will still be city water. I also learned how to really make sure you know what you are ordering if you are unsure ask the waiter more clarifying questions about the food. If you are not willing to try and eat Guinnea Pig I would suggest that you don’t ordering the Cuy.
I know feel confident in speaking in spanish publicly from presenting my skits not only to my class period but also to the community during exhibition. Speaking in spanish is important for me to do because of how much travel I plan on doing to spanish speaking countries. This has helped my confidence grow and being prepare for talking in spanish. I’ve also gained some helpful tips during this project such as, making sure you know where your water is coming from and making sure it’s not from the city and if you are unsure always stick with bottled water. I’ve also gained information such as top accommodations and restraints throughout Peru, this way i’m well prepare for when I travel to Peru.
